Our approach to resolving the problem and relieving you of pain begins with an assessment and identifying the particular tissue with injury.
Once we have achieved this, we usually begin care with the application of soft tissue manipulation (a targeted vibratory deep tissue technique) to the appropriate muscles and other soft tissues involved. This is a specific form of soft tissue work that we have adopted as part of our approach to achieve faster relief. This technique works by, helping the body break up fibrous (scar) tissue and allowing for better reorganisation of healthier tissue, reducing swelling and inflammatory waste and toxin build up, by way of speeding up the lymphatic drainage system and increasing oxygen and nutrient supplies to the area of injury. |
We then perform specific chiropractic adjustments or mobilisations to the areas of biomechanical (joint articulations) stresses or impaired function. This assists to, restore normal motion and flexibility of the stiff or restricted area, improve proprioception (sensation & control) of ligaments, tendons and muscles, stimulate better nerve firing patterns to improve musculoskeletal communication with your brain, and hence improve coordination and balance of your musculoskeletal system, thus ultimately reducing the risk of re-injuries and dysfunction.

Chiropractic is a branch of the health care profession, it is the third largest health profession in the world (behind Medicine and Dentistry), Chiropractic is based upon the understanding that good health depends, in part, upon a normally or optimal functioning nervous system (particularly the spine, and the nerves extending from the spine to all parts of the body). "Chiropractic" comes from the Greek word Chiropraktikos, meaning "done by hand."
Chiropractic stresses the idea that the cause of many disorder processes begins with the body's inability to adapt to its environment or when the body is continuously or repeatedly placed in strenuous environments that exceed its limits of healthy adaptation. Chiropractic looks to address these dysfunctions by locating and ‘adjusting’ the musculoskeletal area of the body that isn't functioning normally or optimally any longer. The focus and examination of the spine to evaluate its structure and function is what makes chiropractic different from other health care professions. Your spinal column is a series of movable bones that begin at the base of your skull and end in the centre of your hips/pelvis. Thirty-one pairs of spinal nerves extend down the spine from the brain and exit through a series of openings in the spinal column. The nerves leave the spine and form a complicated network that influences every living tissue and cell in your body. |
Accidents, falls, stress, tension, prolonged physical activity or exertion or prolonged inactivity or a sedentary lifestyle and countless other factors can all result in derangements or micro-injury of the spinal column, causing irritation and suboptimal function of its spinal nerves. This suboptimal function in nerve activity will often cause or lead to the many dysfunctions of the human body. Chiropractic emphasises that by reducing or eliminating these nerve disruptions, particularly to the flow of impulses of spinal nerves, which are essential to the proper control and co-ordination of the function of every organ, tissue and cell in the body, it allows the human body to achieve and express a state of optimal health and wellbeing.

Lower back complaints account for a majority of presentations seen in our practice. Various studies have shown that as many as 80% of adults will have lower back pain (LBP) at some time in our lives. It is estimated that the majority of people who experience LBP will self-resolve within one month. Unfortunately, LBP left untreated often leads to future episodes of increased severity, longer lasting and more frequent episodes.
A majority tend to think of back pain as something to be treated when it happens, instead of something that can be cared for and prevented through healthy lifestyle choices and maintaining good spinal health. Most Australians do not seek care for their back pain. Women seek care for back pain more often than men and persons who have never married are less likely to seek care. Back pain represents a massive health problem with significant financial and social burdens on our society. A study in the Asia-Pacific Journal of Public Health estimated the direct cost of low back pain in Australia in 2001 to be $1.02 billion. |
The vast majority of people consider back pain as something to treat when it happens, usually through over the counter or prescription drugs. However, while drugs may relieve pain temporarily, they do not address the underlying structural, nutritional and lifestyle habits and often allow the problem to become chronic and more difficult to resolve with future episodes.
For these reasons alone, we highly recommend you to contact us now and find out how we can help you feel the difference too. |
